President Hichilema’s son, Lt. Habwela Hichilema, treated like any other recruit – ZNS!

Lieutenant Habwela Hichilema, son of President Hakainde Hichilema, was treated like any other recruit during training, says the Zambia National Service.
During a joint press briefing ZNS emphasized the importance of respecting his decision, describing it as a personal journey independent of his father’s position.
“It is imperative that we honor his choice and acknowledge his individualism, as his decision is a personal one that should be respected,” ZNS said.
The service also praised the First Family for raising a disciplined and hardworking young man. “No special treatment was given to Lieutenant Habwela Hichilema. He was treated like any other recruit during training,” ZNS added.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense announced that 1,092 candidates have been selected for the ZNS Voluntary Training Program. Defense Permanent Secretary Maambo Hamaundu confirmed that medical examinations for the recruits will commence on August 25.
The Ministry of Information and Media further clarified that Lt. Habwela Hichilema earned his place in the Zambia National Service on merit, not privilege.
Speaking at the joint press briefing with ZNS in Lusaka, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana said Lt. Hichilema successfully passed the mandatory Officers Selection Board, which included rigorous medical, physical, oral and written assessments, before completing the standard training programme.
