Mathew Tembo earns Groundbreaking Doctoral Thesis on Zambian Popular Music!
Zambian music artist and legend Mathew Tembo, who is celebrated for his continuous offering to Zambian music arena, has bagged a new milestone in the field of academics. Dr Mathew Tembo successfully defended his dissertation at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA). It is titled “Zed Beats: A Historical Ethnography of Musical Labor and Musical Production in Zambia’s Popular Music.”
This is the first ever doctoral work to focus on Zambian popular music. It is a great achievement in documenting and search for Zambia’s unique musical heritage. In a statement that followed his achievement Dr. Tembo expressed gratitude for the support from his committee, friends, and family.
