Dumisani Ncube Cancels ‘Africa Must Think’ Competition Due to Weak Submissions!
In a surprising turn of events, well-known Zambian entrepreneur Dumisani Ncube has decided to cancel the 2024 Africa Must Think Music and Creatives Competition. The event was meant to find the next big anthem that celebrates Africa’s hard work, determination, and spirit. Ncube’s goal was to inspire young people to get creative, offering a huge K250,000 prize for the best music creators.
Graphic designers had a chance to win K50,000 for the best competition image, and videographers could win K100,000 for making an outstanding advert. Even though many people entered the competition, Ncube and his team were not impressed.
“We are sad to announce that after thinking carefully, we have decided to cancel the 2024 Africa Must Think Competition. Although we received many creative entries, we felt that none of them fully captured the spirit and vision of Africa Must Think,” Ncube explained. This decision has upset many artists, with some feeling frustrated after working so hard on their submissions.
However, Ncube stands by his choice, saying it was made with honesty. “We appreciate all the participants for their enthusiasm and hard work; your efforts were valued,” he added. Ncube also mentioned that the prize money will still be given out in a different way. “Since we already set aside the money, we couldn’t accept what was submitted when we knew better could have been done,” he said.
