Civil Aviation Authority Warns Against Encroachment of Aerodromes!

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zambia has urged community members in Zambezi District to keep off the local aerodrome to ensure safety and preserve the government facility.

Board Chairperson Gabriel Kunda said the deplorable state of the landing surface is largely due to continuous movement of cars, bicycles, and ox-carts on the airfield.

Captain Kunda stressed that notices should be put up to restrict access, and restoration plans implemented to return the facility to its former standard, making Zambezi District a functional hub once again.

Earlier, Zambezi District Commissioner Simeon Machayi warned that high levels of encroachment were turning the aerodrome into a hazard, as community members treat the airfield as a public road.

Mr. Machayi added that fencing the facility should be considered to prevent trespassing and ensure it meets safety standards.
